“Study Tour” within the Erasmus Plus project BERNICA

From April 15th to 19th, 2024, events under the “Study Tour” are taking place at FH JOANNEUM University of Applied Sciences (Graz, Austria) as part of the Erasmus Plus project “Building Educational and Research Capacities in Nutrition and Dietetics in Central Asia / BERNICA”.
Representatives of the IHSM, together with employees of partner universities, are participating in coordination meetings and trainings organized by the project consortium.
The delegation includes the following staff members from the International Higher School of Medicine:

The “Study Tour” represents a unique opportunity for representatives of the IHSM to meet colleagues from various countries and exchange experiences in the field of nutrition and dietetics. As part of the “Study Tour” university staff participate in various events, trainings, and excursions, including visits to UNESCO World Heritage sites and food processing laboratories. The Erasmus Plus project BERNICA aims to develop educational and research opportunities in the field of nutrition and dietetics in Central Asia, contributing to the overall goal of improving the quality of education and scientific research in the region.
Programme of the "Study Tour"
From November 06 to November 10, 2023, trainings are being conducted within the framework of the Erasmus Plus project “Building Educational and Research Capacities in Nutrition and Dietetics in Central Asia / BERNICA” on the basis of Istanbul Medipol University (IMU), Istanbul, Turkey; they are dedicated to development of methods for nutritional modules and dietetics and the use of innovative teaching methods. The following employees of the International Higher School of Medicine are participating in this training:

Kick off meeting
On September 15th, 2023, on the ZOOM platform, the Kick Off meeting of the participants of the third working package of the project "BERNICA" ERASMUS took place.

Summer School in Issyk-Kul
On 26 of June, the BERNICA Summer School, organized by the International Higher School of Medicine (IHSM), has commenced at the Rainbow Recreation Center in Issyk-Kul, Kyrgyzstan. The BERNICA Summer School has brought together participants from 8 medical universities in Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan, as well as lecturers from FH JOANNEUM University of Applied Sciences, Graz, Austria, and Medipol University, Istanbul, Turkey.
The opening ceremony of the Summer School was inaugurated by Dr. Aliia E. Bazhanova, Dean of Postgraduate studies at IHSM and the project coordinator from IHSM, and Dr. Manuela Konrad, Associate Professor at FH JOANNEUM University of Applied Sciences. They shared the vision and goals of the Summer School and extended their wishes for a fruitful collaboration.
The aim of the BERNICA Summer School is to train medical university educators from Central Asia in the development of educational modules on nutrition and dietetics. These modules are based on advanced technologies and scientific achievements, innovative teaching methods, and conducting scientific research in this field.
Kick-off meeting within the framework of the project 101082831-Building educational and research capacity in the field of nutrition and dietetics in Central Asia / BERNICA
On March 15-16, 2023, meeting of representatives of partner universities of the project 101082831-Building educational and research potential in the field of nutrition and dietetics in Central Asia / BERNICA on the basis of the Kazakh Medical University named after S. D. Asfendiyarov, Almaty, Kazakhstan is being held. This meeting is aimed at developing plans, objectives of the BERNICA project in the Universities of Central Asia:
- Development of the work plan and objectives of the BERNICA project;
- Development and implementation of a nutrition and dietetics module in the universities of Central Asia. Comments, suggestions and promotion;
- Development of internal and external project monitoring systems.
