The third IHSM project, The Development of Doctoral Education and Research Capacities of Kyrgyzstani Academia / DERECKA 609918-EPP-1-2019-1-KG-EPPKA2-CBHE-JP, is will be realize 2020-2022. The aim of the project is the strengthening research and innovation capacities in Kyrgyzstan through promotion of the PhD system.
The project will contribute to the improvement of the quality of education at universities by updating the qualifications of scientific supervisors and developing scientific competencies among PhD students.
By developing relevant innovative curricula and methodology PhD programmes of target universities, with their trained academic staff, supervisors and researchers will increase research and innovation capacities of Kyrgyzstan. Future PhD graduates will input to the development of Kyrgyzstani economy and society.
One of the points of the Strategy is “to expand academic mobility through the introduction of the European system of transfer and accumulation of credits.” In this aspect, we propose working out ECTS compliant PhD programmes and increasing the mobility of target universities’ PhD students.
Another objective stressed in the Strategy is wide introduction of innovative teaching methods including using information technologies. We plan introduction of blended learning at target universities: training target groups to develop online materials and use managed learning systems such as Moodle.
The project activities are fully in line with the modernization and internationalization agenda of the ISM. The development and introduction of a new MPH course with new teaching materials and innovative teaching techniques will modernize educational process. Trained university staff are expected to have enhanced teaching and research skills and competences. The mobility planned in the project and future collaboration with EU and CA partners will strengthen national and international partnership and increase internationalization of the ISHM’s activity.
